2010 Deedee Daniel Opportunity

Fund Grant Cycle Guidelines

 

Organizations may apply for grant support of no more than $5,000 to be used by April 1, 2011.

Grants will only be made to a qualified charitable project or a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that benefits Hendricks County and its communities. Operating expenses will be considered for grants in 2010.

 

The Community Foundation will consider organizations or charitable projects that serve in the following program areas:

Arts and Culture – including but not limited to art appreciation, public display of art, art conservation and audience development
Community Development – including but not limited to leadership development, community activities and quality of life enhancement
Education – including but not limited to contemporary education issues, special needs and positive educational development
Environment – including but not limited to parks, recreation and environmental enhancement and awareness
Health and Human Services – including but not limited to services to families and individuals in economic stress, community health programs and programs addressing elder and special need issues
Youth – including but not limited to youth leadership and development

Letter of Intent -- DUE MAY 28, 2010
A Letter of Intent is required before a grant application will be made available to any organization. The Letter of Intent must be completed using the Adobe Acrobat PDF form (in sidebar). Receipt of your Letter of Intent will be acknowledged.

Deadline for Letter of Intent: Friday, May 28, 2010 by noon

Invitation to Submit Application
If the Community Foundation finds the Letter of Intent appropriate and within the scope of our mission, an invitation to submit an application will follow no later than June 18, 2010. Please do not send any additional materials with the Letter of Intent.

Completed applications must be received by Thursday, July 15, 2010 by noon. Funding decisions will be made at the August meeting of the Board of Directors. Applicants will be notified as to the status of their proposals by the end of August. A check presentation in August or September will be scheduled with each grant recipient.

Download a copy of the Letter of Intent form [in sidebar] to your computer. You may change the name of the form for your filing purposes.

Open the form and click on Highlight Fields [upper right corner] so you can see where to enter information.

Complete form. Please note that you can save your document and work on it for several sessions before submitting the form. We encourage you to save often.

When you are ready to submit the form, simply click on the Submit Form button [upper right under Highlight Fields button] and follow the instructions. Deedee Daniel Opportunity Fund

To meet needs in the community, the Community Foundation awards grants from The Opportunity Fund with an annual grant cycle. The Opportunity Fund:

  • Is supported by donations from the citizens, organizations and businesses of Hendricks County.
  • Principal is never spent, so grants will be awarded forever to help improve the quality of life in Hendricks County.
  • Grants are awarded annually to charitable projects and organizations in the areas of arts and culture, community development, education, environment, health and human services, and youth programs.
  • As the Opportunity Fund grows more grant money will be awarded to Hendricks County charitable organizations and projects.
 
2009 Grant Recipients

The Hendricks County Community Foundation announces the recipients of its 2009 Deedee Daniel Opportunity Fund grants. The grants, totaling $46,500, will benefit charitable organizations that enhance the community, help those in need or provide educational opportunities. The 15 organizations benefiting from these grants service thousands of Hendricks County residents.
