Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship

The scholarship provides FULL TUITION, required fees, and a special allocation of up to $800 per year for required books and required equipment for four years of undergraduate study on a full-time basis, leading to a baccalaureate degree at any Indiana public or private college or university accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship

The Hendricks County Community Foundation is proud to partner with Lilly Endowment, Inc. to select two Hendricks County high school seniors as nominees for the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program. 

The scholarship provides FULL TUITION, required fees, and a special allocation of up to $800 per year for required books and required equipment for four years of undergraduate study on a full-time basis, leading to a baccalaureate degree at any Indiana public or private college or university accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Criteria
To be eligible, student must:
• Be a Hendricks County resident
• Be ranked in the top 15% (GPA) of his/her class
• Be involved in significant community service activities throughout his/her high school career
• Be involved in extracurricular activities.
• Graduate by the end of June with a diploma from a regionally accredited Indiana high school
• Be accepted to pursue a full-time baccalaureate course of study at an accredited public or private college or university in Indiana.

Priority will be given to community service, leadership and academics. Community service activities may be done as an individual or in a group. The activities may benefit an individual, community organization, school, church, etc.

Disqualified Persons
Family members (including spouse, brothers and sisters by whole or half blood, ancestors, children, step-children grandchildren and great grandchildren) of a person who is currently serving as a member of the Hendricks County Community Foundation Scholarship Committee, Board of Directors, or Staff are NOT eligible for the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship.

Application
Applications for 2011 will be available in September 2010.

Interviews
The Community Foundation’s Scholarship Committee will hold interviews on a designated Saturday in February.

Commitment
Each scholarship recipient must commit to:
• Pursue four years of undergraduate study on a full-time basis leading to a baccalaureate degree at an Indiana college or university.
• Understand that the total amount of the scholarship is calculated on the basis of the chosen college’s tuition and required fees beginning with the 2010-2011 school year.
• Assist with the processing of scholarship payments each semester or quarter and to avoid late fees, by forwarding to the Hendricks County Community Foundation immediately upon receipt all invoices received for tuition and any eligible fees that may be covered by the scholarship.
• Account for and return to Independent Colleges of Indiana any amount of the special allocation for required books and required equipment remaining at the end of each school year.
• Agree to notify Independent Colleges of Indiana of any scholarship awards received for tuition or required fees from a source other than the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship.
• Keep the Hendricks County Community Foundation apprised annually by June 1st of enrollment and academic status during college, by completing and returning any surveys or forms as may be provided by the Community Foundation.
• Upon graduation, keep the Hendricks County Community Foundation apprised annually by June 1st of education and/or employment status for at least ten years after graduation, by completing and returning an alumni survey or other forms as may be provided by the Community Foundation.
