The Hendricks County Community Foundation (HCCF) is an independent, local nonprofit organization serving Hendricks County, Indiana. Since 1993, we’ve worked with people who care about this community to make it stronger—today and for generations to come.
As a community foundation, we help people give, support the work of local nonprofits, and build charitable resources that will serve Hendricks County far into the future. But our work goes beyond grantmaking. We listen to our community, study its needs and opportunities, bring people and organizations together, and help align resources around the issues that matter most.
We believe some of the best work happens when people work together. HCCF brings donors, nonprofits, businesses, local leaders, and residents together around a shared goal: making Hendricks County a place where everyone has the opportunity to build a fulfilling life and a stronger future.
Our History
HCCF’s roots go back to January 1993, when the Greater Plainfield Community Foundation was created to support charitable projects in Plainfield and provide scholarships to students graduating from Plainfield High School.
In 1996, the Foundation expanded its mission to serve all of Hendricks County and became the White Lick Heritage Community Foundation. In 2005, our name changed to the Hendricks County Community Foundation, reflecting the countywide community we serve today.
Since those early years, HCCF has grown considerably, but the basic idea remains the same: local people coming together to build charitable resources and make their community stronger.
Today, HCCF manages more than $42 million in charitable assets through funds established by individuals, families, businesses, and organizations. Each fund has its own charitable purpose, while together they create a resource that belongs to Hendricks County for generations to come.

HCCF has participated in the National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations accreditation program since 2006. Accreditation demonstrates that HCCF meets rigorous national standards for legal compliance, financial accountability, governance, donor services, and grantmaking.
For donors, professional advisors, nonprofits, and the community, the National Standards seal provides independent assurance that HCCF follows recognized practices for responsible community philanthropy.
