In 2016, Hendricks County had a voter turnout of 56.2%. Elections are important to our community, particularly those at the local level. Our 2019 Needs Assessment highlighted a fear that "Community leaders have self-interest rather than social responsibility and lack overall community knowledge". We believe a more informed and active electorate could help lower that gap.
Thanks to our partnership with Indiana Citizen, Hendricks County voter turnout rose 15.8% to 72% in 2020. There were only 8 counties in the State with higher voter turnout. The statewide growth in voter turnout was only 9.29% meaning Hendricks was on the leading edge.
