Description

In a world where nonprofit missions compete for attention, funding, and trust, your story is your greatest asset.

Storytelling for Impact is a dynamic two-part leadership workshop designed to help organizations reconnect with their origin, clarify their mission, and communicate with greater authenticity and alignment. This interactive experience combines strategic messaging, team building, and sector-specific
application to help leaders harness the power of storytelling for internal clarity and external engagement.

Whether you’re focused on fundraising, advocacy, team culture, or community partnerships—this training equips you to lead with voice, vision, and value.

About our Facilitator

MARYA PATRICE SHERRON, MFA is a writer, advocate, and community leader devoted to amplifying marginalized voices and building inclusive communities. A former professor of Creative Writing and Black Studies, Marya is the founder of KI Productions, an independent publishing and production company launched in 2021 with the guiding belief that every story matters.

As the author of four children’s books—Time to Dance, Small Big Gifts, Ruby’s Big Swim, and What if My Pieces Don’t Fit?—Marya’s storytelling has touched families across the country. Her work is honored in the Indianapolis Airport Sensory Rooms, offering representation and encouragement for individuals living with autism. She has also authored numerous guided journals, Bible studies, and self-help workbooks focused on growth, healing, and empowerment—especially for women navigating complex caregiving roles.

In 2024, Marya deepened her mission by launching KI Productions’ Neurodivergent Collection—a platform dedicated to showcasing the voices of neurodivergent individuals and families. Through this collection of books, personal testimonies, and family resources, Marya continues to champion awareness, education, and lasting change toward a more inclusive world.

The filmmaking division of KI Productions is currently in development on a docu-series celebrating the global phenomenon of Live Reality Games and full-length documentary celebrating the life and legacy of Marya’s late brother. These deeply personal projects reflect her commitment to storytelling that uplifts, educates, and inspires.

Beyond her creative work, Marya is a relentless advocate for families navigating disability. She facilitates Caregiver Connection through the Autism Society of Indiana and serves as the Program Coordinator for Ausome Indy’s Moms Mentoring Moms program, creating vital support systems for parents of children with disabilities. She also lends her voice and leadership to several boards, including The Arc Indiana and the Parks Foundation of Noblesville, where she serves as Inclusion Chair, and is an active member of the Women in Noblesville Committee.

A champion of community-centered change, Marya also founded Safe Parks Plus, a safety-focused initiative advocating for fenced-in playgrounds to protect children who elope. Through policy work, storytelling, and service, she continues to build bridges of understanding, connection, and hope for families across Indiana and beyond.
